Special Program - WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE? -- CAREER DIRECTIONS FOR TEENS

Special Program for High School Students/College-age Students




Confused with which career to choose, this short intense course could be for you.
Class duration: 1 and half hours each

This course covers the following (and more as the interaction develops in the groups):

CAREER EXPLORATION

  • Explore the possibilities through some assessments and investigations into the career of your dreams.

  • Analysis of capabilities/skills and aspirations to your future career path.

  • Match your passions to your dream career.

CAREER ASSESSMENT & AWARENESS

  • What are the lucrative careers of future and how to be ready for them?

  • Are your career aspirations at par with the current market?

  • Are your skills marketable?

CAREER PLANNING AND NEW IDEAS

  • Group discussions and brain storming sessions are also included in the course encouraging students to find or discover a new career path that they had not thought of before.

CAREER GUIDANCE

  • Choosing a major

  • Using mentors / parental help for career exploration

  • Choosing the right college - some tips to your future

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Learn the leadership skills that can take you to new heights in your future career or college term

SUMMER ASSIGNMENT - Research, Explore, Learn

    The students attending the Spring session will be given a summer assignment (2 months research and reporting work) where they have to do a case study on either an internship or an in-depth anaylsis on a particular career and this group can come back for an advanced class later in Fall. It is a great experience especially for the middle school students - now is the time to plan/decide on how various organizations select interns and how to target your resume and efforts to get the best one for you!

FOR THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

(please note: this is a separate course offered as an add-on to the Career Directions for Teens program - you must approach the instructor beforehand to plan/schedule for this sub-course)

  • How to use your web development skills for online business
